Sunday Is For Jesus And Football

Standing up for the little guy (gal)... Me.

A gray afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium, blue seats around a green field, a line of people across the grass, and the scoreboard showing the Ravens and the Browns scoreless.

Dear Roger!

Sunday is for Jesus and Football. In THAT order.

I am a trend watcher.

Yes, I know we can still wear leggings, even with longer dresses. Thank God.

The monochromatic top-to-bottom thing is still floating around.

I am not a slave to style. But I like to think I am rather tuned in for a girl from flyover country.

That being said, I do not usually write on Sunday.

Sunday is for Jesus and Football. In THAT order.

We do not skip Church for home games.

Just Sayin'.

And since there was Jesus, and now there is football, I have thoughts.

My two favorite teams are playing each other today. And of course one is getting STOMPED on!

Sigh.

I am glad for the one team. They REALLY needed a win.

But have mercy.

Folks say, "Do you think Jesus cares who wins?"

Really?

Yes. But not the way you mean.

He cares who makes the good plays. Who makes the bad plays.

Who is known in all those NFL communities to hold forth the name of Jesus.

And who will say all glory to God and my Savior, Jesus Christ, when they win the Super Bowl.

It is all part of the bigger picture.

Apparently there is another crackdown on what players are now allowed to say about Jesus in interviews.

All I can figure is Roger Goodell must be an atheist.

Doesn't he know the same audience that cared about BLM cares about JESUS???

If you cared about your demographics… you'd realize the percentage of your fans that buy tickets and merch love JESUS!

As fans we are feeling a little raw today.

You see, Roger, we don't just follow one team.

We follow players.

Especially players that we are going to spend eternity with.

And the NFL took one of its most valuable and best loved players this week, Jalen Hurts, and, because of… what…

Cameras? Tickets? Overseas TV viewers? Betting Advertisers????

…caused him to play when we are told the blood clot was so dangerous he couldn't sleep.

But he could play four quarters of football.

Then fly back on a pressurized plane. How many hours.

And there is a good chance he will never play again.

Well, what you did for evil, God will use for good!

Hurts is even MORE of a hero now.

God's man for God's hour, no doubt.

But we saw.

We remember.

Something you may not have noticed, Roger.

Something is happening in the young generation. You know, the young generation you NEED to attract to NFL viewership?

They like Jesus.

They are turning out in record numbers on college campuses and at old-school revivals.

Thousands declared their faith in Jesus in San Diego this week.

In the meanwhile, something has happened to the NFL.

Owners, coaches, and players are becoming more and MORE vocal about their faith. About All Glory to God.

And people are watching.

Watching Godly men do miraculous things with a pigskin to Glorify — Jesus.

And it's spreading.

Spreading to the NBA, MLB, tennis, golf, NASCAR, and soccer.

It's a trend, Roger.

People have decided we are going to step up.

Reading Mr. Horrow's article this week, How Far Will They Go, about people being marked for what they believe — well, we don't just vote our beliefs.

We spend our money on our beliefs.

That isn't the only contest going on today.

Some upsets are happening. The 49ers are struggling.

But down in Brazil, people were voting for FREEDOM.

Freedom from oppression.

They didn't quite make it. Not this time.

Lula won. They came within two points.

And if they had won… very soon, the USA would start looking like the Americas.

Commerce and ballgames and teams will spread to other places. Not on this count.

Travel will change. Fans will change.

You will have fantastic opportunities for your organization, Roger. Just not off this Sunday.

But keep in mind, you may hold the dice, but the results belong to God.

The NFL seems to be all hand in glove with betting organizations now, but Jesus will bring Glory from even that!

Have mercy.
